GENERAL
The Alabama Administrative Office of Courts (AOC) is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals to fill a vacancy in the class of ADMIN SUPPORT ASST I (10196) for Calhoun County. Applications for this position will be accepted until Friday, January 31, 2020 at 5:00 PM.

WORK SETTING

This position provides responsible secretarial, clerical, administrative, and research services to the Juvenile Court in Etowah County.  Duties include a variety of complex clerical tasks requiring independent judgment and timely action, including the making of decisions in accordance with department policies and practices.  As employees become more proficient, they are expected to handle more technical assignments with minimal assistance and in an independent manner.    Work is performed under the supervision of the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court.



TYPICAL DUTIES

Receives, opens, reads, sorts, and distributes mail and other correspondence.

Maintains a large or complex filing system, sorts and files correspondence, reports, records and other documents by established classifications, and maintains manuals, books of procedure, and bulletins.

Greets the public and directs to proper offices; answers questions and gives non-technical information.

Operates personal computer, calculating machine, copier, typewriter, and other office machines to enter data, inquire for information, and perform complex typing duties.

Checks and analyzes complex documents and statistical information for completeness, accuracy, and proper coding according to standard procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Maintains personnel, time, payroll, inventory, and other operating records where technical knowledge of established policies and procedures is required.

           Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

Knowledge of the principles of office management and ability to apply this knowledge to work problems.

Working knowledge of the operation of standard office equipment.

Working knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, procedures, and functions.

Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.

Ability to work independently on difficult or complex office assignments.

Ability to keep complex records, to prepare periodic reports from those records, and to compose effective correspondence.

Ability to make computations and tabulations accurately with reasonable speed.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training and experience equivalent to:  Graduation from high school or possession of a GED equivalency, supplemented by courses in business practice and typing with a minimum of two years experience in office management.
