This is specialized administrative work in support of a large and complex personnel program or independently administering a small-to-moderate size personnel program of average scope and complexity.
Employees in this class assist in the direction of a centralized personnel program considerable size, scope and complexity. Employees perform responsible paraprofessional personnel activities such as recruitment, selection and placement, classification and pay, certification and auditing, and orientation of the employees, invoicing, requiring close adherence to rules and regulations of the Personnel Board and to special federal and state laws and regulations. Incumbents in this class functions as a lead worker and have greater responsibility for assistance to managers and filling higher level or special positions, and frequently coordinate work with other sections/divisions. Employees of large personnel programs work with relative independence in making decisions on routine matters, but problems involving more difficult work are researched and recommendations for actions are made to their immediate supervisor. Work is evaluated through conferences and review of completed tasks. Employees assigned to this classification are expected to exercise considerable independent judgment.
Confers with supervisors, local office representatives, managers, and other professional people in developing policies, programs, plans, and procedures for the effective coordination of personnel services.
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Graduation from a standard senior high school supplemented by college-level courses in personnel, public or business administration, or related area.
Clerical experience which includes paraprofessional personnel work in a State agency OR equivalent professional personnel management experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license.
